I am looking for a heart rate monitor that does not use a chest strap
but it can still continuously record my heart rate. I am trying to use this for my mt. biking excercise. Because I sweat a lot, a chest strap would make me uncomfortable. Also because I need continuous data recorded, I can not use finger pulse type of monitor either and nor is it practical to press my finger on something while I am riding.
Is there any product out there that can achieve what I need? It is not that difficult to come up with a design that, say measures your finger tip continuously and transmit the signal to a watch or something, right? But I don’t see that anywhere on the net.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I just finished a 30 minute cardio workout at home. I had my heart rate monitor on and was watching as my heart rate went down. I noticed that every time I drank (from a straw) my cold glass of water that the number went up on my monitor. Is this due to drinking the cold water? I once heard that cold water is not good for you but… water is water as long as you drink it.
Thanks for any info?

I’m a member at a gym and they have really nice equipment, but obviously I can’t afford that kind of machine. But I found an elliptical at a garage sale (which is the only thing I use at the gym) for $40, even though it isn’t as sturdy and nice as the gym one. But I bought a heart rate monitor watch, and tested at home and at the gym, and it works my heart just as good. So if I leave the gym and only use this one at home, will the exercise be just as effective? I would assume it would be just as good, but thought I’d ask before I got rid of my gym membership.

My parents want strapless wireless HRM watch’s for their birthdays. They want it to beep when entering and exiting their target heart rate zones. They will use this working out, walking, and biking. Would they have to hold their fingers on the sensors of all the watches? Are there watches that have a sensor on your wrist? Dp you preset these? How to they work if they are not getting a constant read out? They don’t want chest straps!
I have to order them or find them soon at target or dick’s for this weekend.
I’m confused.

I have a Polar watch/heart rate monitor, and I replace the battery, and then 2 days later it is showing the battery low symbol. I have changed batteries twice, and it keeps running it down. I am not sure why. The light is not on, so I know it is not that. Thanks for any input.

I wanted to buy a watch with a heart rate monitor but i dont want to have to put on a strap around my body. Couldnt it just sense the heart rate around the wrist?
If there are any watches which dont need straps, are they much more expensive?
Thanks
