I’m anxious about using a heart rate monitor during one of my college classes next week. I’m thinking of skipping it if it could be dangerous. I don’t like the idea of electrodes being tied to my chest, I actually had this done when I joined a gym last year, they strapped it to my chest, while the instructor wore the watch, but now I am frightened by the idea that electrical signals are being send to my heart to monitor how fast it is beating. Are heart rate monitors completely safe? Or can those electrical signals damage or throw off the heart in any way?

What Is The Best Health Care Job To Have??

I’m trying the best career path to take for me. I want something with good hours and that doesn’t require alot of schooling.
I’m an unlicensed nurse’s aid now and I do the desk and watch heart monitors on occasion but I don’t want to be a nurse.

I recently bought my girlfriend of 26 years of age a polar heart rate monitoring watch. She is training herself for a Charity run. She is getting readings as high as 235 beats per minute. We decided to return the watch and exchanged it for a new one thinking the watch must be faulty. None the less the new watch is giving the same results. She is not faint or have any pains but I worry for her. I have recomended she see a doctor just in case. She claims her heart has always had a high beat count even when she tested it on olyptical gym equipment. She is seemingly healthy and can run as far, and longer than I can. Should she worry?

I am currently looking at the Garmin Forerunner 301. Does any one have one of these watches or a watch that they like? I would like to keep the price reasonable 200 or less. Any ideas suggestions? Please serious responses. I am getting close to my first 1/2 marathon and plan to move to a full when ready. I am not a cyclist or a swimmer, runner only.
