I monitor my blood sugar regularly through out the day, fasting, before & after meals and at bedtime. On normal days my readings are normal but whenever I am stressed emotionally or physically I see significantly higher blood sugar levels than normal. I exercise regulary and watch my diet; I am keeping a journal of what I eat, my readings and how my day has gone. I am seeing a pattern of increased blood sugar levels on the occasions I feel extreme stress and I am aware at these times that my heart is responding with “fight or flight” symtoms. I would really like some help and insight with this and what types of things I can do to help myself. Thank you,

i have a pair of running shoes, i think a stop-watch/heart monitor thing is neccessary, what else do i need? what foods should i get used to eating? im not big on sweets to begin with, but i need to limit my coca cola intake lol ! im not heavy by any means i wanna do this to be heart healthy, docs said its ok. i live in florida, but get cold easily, what material of clothing should i use to exercise, i have a pair of gym shorts, but thats it. i would like to use my ipod to keep me focused on music instead of pain lol. so shoes, clothes, stop watch monitor thing, ne food/drinks that can help out? i have a treadmill, but it seems as if i have to stomp on it to count my steps though. whats the best type of stop watch monitor though? any thing i left out please tell me. i dont smoke or eat fatty foods to often, but i am very out of shape and im naturally thin.

For a little over a month I have been in a wheelchair and not walking very much. I have fibromyalgia that got way out of hand and found that I didn’t have the strength to walk anymore. I got a new walker yesterday though and they want me to start trying to walk everyday to strengthen my legs and back (which are starting to go weak, stiff and sore). I’m getting a heart monitor watch today which apparently will count how many steps I’ve done in a day. Can someone please suggest how many steps I should take to get started? I want to start with a set goal for a week (actually starting tomorrow…I’ve been doing a little bit of walking now but not starting to measure my footsteps til tomorrow) until Sunday and then I’m hoping to increase my footsteps. I’d also like to get suggestions on how many footsteps to increase to at a time (I would do this for another week) and then add the same amount again the following week, etc. Any help that you can suggest would be greatlly appreciated. I really want to get walking again but I’m worried about overdoing it as it REALLY hurts as it is. Thank you.
P.S. I plan on taking the steps throughout the day not at one time. Do you think I should do it this way or should I do a set number of steps at one time?

Ok so I hav ea heart rate monitor the one where it comes with a watch and a little belt thing to go around your chest. Its no any kind of name brand I bought it from Fred Meyer’s it was like 30$ or something. so I don’t know how accurate it is. I am 23 5′4″ and weigh 140 lbs. my bmi is 24.1 fat percentage is 36 ish. thoes are just off a website so ? well when I wore the heart rate monitor I jogged at 4.5mph on treamill for 25 min. whith a 4 min warmup walk. the treamill counter said I burned 300 calories but my heart monitor said I burned 500 cal…thats a big difference. Which one is more accurate and why ??
my husband says to just use the lower one to know for sure I’m burning enough but I just want to know what is most accurate..cause 200 cal, thats alot.

Okay, so what I’m looking for is a heart rate monitor that sits on your wrist like a watch. I need it to actively show me my heart rate (accurately) and have a battery that I can change out. Price range ~$50 and the hope that it will not die like many reviews I have read about the $30 Walmart monitors.
Thanks!!

I wanted to buy a watch with a heart rate monitor but i dont want to have to put on a strap around my body. Couldnt it just sense the heart rate around the wrist?
If there are any watches which dont need straps, are they much more expensive?
Thanks

My brother was a cross country/track athlete and has a bunch of trophies/medals and he never used a heart rate monitor. His best time in 3 miles back in highschool was 16 mins, he won first place in regionals that one time. I dont know what grade he was in at the time.

i have seen the polar f4 and f6 wrist watches on-line. it comes with a chest strap. do you need to wear the strap permanently to obtain heart rate readings? i know other watches don’t require this but sacrifice accuracy as a result.
i’ve also seen the jml watch. it looks ok too and is cheaper
any recommendations?
